Religious Education

The parishioners and religious education staff at St. Nicholas are dedicated to handing on the Roman Catholic Faith to our children. We recognize that parents are the principle teachers of their children in all things, and in particular in matters of faith, and we seek to support parents in this endeavor.

St. Nicholas uses sound text books which most clearly reflect the teaching of the Church and we use the best teaching methods available for instilling the faith into the minds and hearts of our youth.

Religious Education classes are offered once a week on Wednesday evenings from September through May. Grades 1-10 meet on Wednesday evening at Holy Cross Catholic School. Preschool and kindergarten students meet during Mass on Sunday mornings.

The Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are received in the second grade. Confirmation is received in the tenth grade.

We recognize that Christian education must continue all through our lives in order to posses the "mind of Christ," and to apply the teachings and principles of Jesus Christ to a constantly changing world.
